When my wife started making better records than me
With my band
I knew it was time to quit dopin’
But that only made it worse

I started wondering
If what made me great
Was being able to stay up
All night catching songs

It didn’t hurt

I quit
In Paradise Valley
Took walks
Left a couple ounces in the bus

Just in case

I still miss
The card games
The guys in the band
All the songs

You have to be awake to notice
I’m sleeping good and I’m
Pretty content
But I ain't
Great anymore

I miss that
