Desire

I chased an airplane
across a great river

I never found her
she was covered in mud

the story she told
I lost in the sun

when I woke up
I was surrounded by smoke

she walked out of a cloud
and sat on rock

I said
you've been gone

are you going to stay

she said
that's only natural
if you want me to yes

Has Anyone Ever Told You

art
for lunch
whiskey
soaked napkin
acid
dreams
way
back
when
computers
were machines
profound
insignificance
almost
empty
dive
under
ground
music
floating
juke
box
what is
is not
sometimes
a girl
says
you look familiar
asks
do I know you
generic
face
stone
man
I say
I'm not sure
has anyone ever told you you look like Neil Young

Punk Blues

I never had a voice to lose so I still sing my songs every afternoon before I go to work
the concrete wall's a good listener sometimes I think I'm Bob Dylan
the concrete wall never asks me for my autograph
so sometimes I just sit and stare and end up smoking rope
I get to thinking what's life worth living for
then I turn on the TV and see something cool
it might be a long touchdown pass it might be an old Al Pacino movie
it really isn't all that bad if you don't expect too much
if you expect too much you're just a greedy bastard
